Unstoppable
Mission: Unlock a sprawling 1,200 square foot attic to serve the needs of a large family.
For our "Unstoppable" project, our clients wanted to transform their attic into 1,200 square feet of usable living space. They envisioned a space that would include an office, a play area, a full bathroom, and a bedroom.
During the planning phase, we identified two major hurdles. The first was that the existing floor joists couldn’t support the weight of the new living space. The second challenge involved the roof framing at the top of the attic stairs, which didn’t meet the required head clearance according to building codes.
To tackle these issues, we teamed up with a structural engineer to design a new stairwell and adjust the roof framing to ensure both code compliance and accessibility. After the Town of Farragut approved the stamped plans, we moved forward with the transformation.
Over the following months, our skilled team worked tirelessly to turn this once-neglected attic into a fully functional and beautiful living space. The project involved framing, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC installation, insulation, sheetrock, painting, flooring, tiling, trim carpentry, and final finishing touches.
The end result was a complete transformation that exceeded expectations. We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to serve this family throughout the process, and we’re confident they will enjoy their new space for many years to come!
