Apex
Mission: Building a modern lake home rooted in experience.
Located on a dramatic mountainside homesite overlooking the natural beauty of Norris Lake, Apex is a custom-designed modern retreat that merges bold contemporary architecture with structurally expressive design. Carefully integrated into the steep terrain, the residence is defined by expansive poured concrete walls, steel floor framing, and a commanding architectural presence that feels both grounded in the landscape and elevated above it.
Spanning approximately 3,492 square feet of heated and cooled living space, the home features three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and a series of open, intentionally curated living spaces designed to support a refined, modern lifestyle. The main level centers around a dramatic great room and kitchen, where expansive glazing, clean architectural lines, and seamless access to covered outdoor living spaces create a strong connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape. A dedicated office and private guest accommodations provide flexibility while maintaining the home’s sense of retreat and privacy. The lower level expands the experience further, featuring an expansive gym, private hosting and entertainment spaces, and immersive living areas embedded within the hillside and framed by the home’s structural concrete design.
The exterior composition is defined by dark masonry, a black standing seam roof, expansive glazing, and bold geometric forms that reinforce the home’s industrial-modern architectural identity. The steep site conditions allowed for a striking vertical composition, with substantial concrete and masonry walls anchoring the structure directly into the mountainside. Contemporary glass garage doors and restrained landscaping further reinforce the home’s modern architectural presence.
Inside, the design draws inspiration from refined industrial architecture, blending raw structural elements with elevated, high-end finishes. Both levels feature concrete floor systems supported by steel framing, creating a uniquely durable and architectural foundation throughout the home. A moody, sophisticated material palette—featuring darker finishes, clean detailing, and minimalist textures—is paired with exposed ductwork and intentionally visible mechanical elements reminiscent of a modern commercial space. The result is an atmosphere that feels sleek, immersive, and highly curated while remaining deeply livable.
Currently under construction, Apex represents a highly personalized vision for modern lakefront living—crafted not as a traditional family home, but as a private architectural retreat designed for intentional living, relaxation, and connection to the surrounding landscape. With a projected completion date of mid-2027, the home is already taking shape as a distinctive addition to the Norris Lake mountainside.
